RAM Memory: How To Install RAM To Your Computer

Adding a new hard drive and PCI cards will not significantly speed up your computer without adding a new RAM memory. However, more memory is not always the answer to your slow PC.

If you think that adding memory is the solution to your PC, you should consider learning how to install additional RAM memory.

Here are the things you will need:
1. RAM Memory. It must be compatible with your computer.
2. Screwdriver
3. Your PC.

Here are the steps involved in installing or adding a new memory.

1. Get your computer ready.
By this, it means that you turn off your computer and unplug it. You must wait for a few seconds before opening your computer's case. This is to prevent electrocution while installing the RAM.

2. Find an empty RAM socket.
Your computer have at least one or two slots available, i.e. if you have not installed additional memory before.

3. Open up the clips.
The retaining clips need to be open up so you can install the RAM. You can do this by pressing the clips outward.

4. Install or insert your RAM
It is best not to get your fingerprints on the working parts of the memory. Then, line up the slotted memory with your MB's RAM socket.

5. Press the memory
Press the stick of RAM firmly until it is attached to the socket securely.

6. Screw it back.
Replace your unit's side panel and screw it into place. Plug your computer to your power supply unit and start your PC.

7. Verify your memory RAM.
You can do this by right clicking My Computer. Then, choose Properties. Under "Computer" tab, the new memory should be listed. If the installation went well, you should see more memory on your computer than before your installation.
